HMOs should be one property for council tax, Propertymark says
The current system allows some HMOs to be banded for council tax purposes per room, meaning that some tenants will be liable for council tax on a room in a shared house

Propertymark has ‘broadly’ agreed with the government’s proposal to review bandings for Houses in Multiple Occupancy (HMOs) in England so they are banded as one property with the landlord liable for the bill, which is “the fairest and easiest system to manage”.
